To get a quick, free, long-term overview of the electric or gas futures markets using delayed quotes,  go to futuresource.com and select charts.  Fill in the blanks at the bottom of the chart. Choose monthly for a long-term view.  Choose stochastic or slow stochastic studies and read the reference section that explains their use.  Choose medium-size and medium density.  Click on other periods at the bottom of the chart to view shorter term outlooks for the contract you are viewing.

To develop a thorough understanding of the use of stochastic indicators, download a reprint of Dr.George C. Lane's article for only $3.95, from Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities Magazine.  This article explains some of the fine points of using stochastic indicators which are glossed over or omitted in many textbooks and are unknown to many professional traders.   Pay particular attention to bullish and bearish divergence patterns, "set up" divergence patterns , and % K extremes.
